In an attempt to make name for themselves in the smartphone market after a failed attempt with the P51, Panasonic are back with the P11 and T11 smartphones. The devices seem to offer a much better value for money when compared to the P51. Both devices feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor which comes with a quad core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and feature 1GB RAM.
We shall talk about the P11 in this post, i.e., what’s good and what’s not.
Camera and Internal Storage
The phone comes with a standard camera set in an 8MP rear camera along with a 2MP front unit. This is a set we’ve been seeing on most phones which have seen light of late, especially ones from domestic manufacturers. On the other hand, Chinese manufacturers have gone a step further and often seem to offer 13MP main cameras.
The 8MP unit on this device should probably keep you satisfied with the performance if you’re into casual photography. You will, however, be disappointed if you expect SLR quality pictures from this unit. The 2MP front unit too, should suffice for most users. The internal storage on this device is again a standard 4GB, with storage expandable by up to 32GB via microSD card.
Processor and Battery
The phone comes with Snapdragon 200 Processor which we see trending these days in various new handsets . The processor is potent enough to power your favourite games and handle HD video without many glitches. On the P11, the processor is accompanied by 1GB of RAM to ensure smooth multitasking and fluid UI transitions. It is not clear yet if Panasonic will have their own skin over the Android OS or not, which might cause the UI to stutter a bit.
The P11 packs a standard 2000mAh battery like most other phones in its range. Although a bigger battery is definitely desirable, this 2000mAh unit should and probably will be enough for one whole day of usage. However if you use the device for gaming primarily, you might not get more than 8 hours.
Display and Features
The P11 comes with a 5 inch display, which is about the average screen size for a smartphone of today. The device packs a decent resolution in 720p HD – 1280×720 pixels, making it a good device for all round use, including reading, watching movies/video, gaming, etc.
At the same time, the resolution won’t be too demanding on the GPU like other 1080p displays out there, which means, in a way, you get the best of both worlds; clarity as well as performance.Like other budget devices, the P11 too will be a dual SIM phone.
Looks and Connectivity
The phone comes with colourful back covers, reminiscent of the Nokia Lumia series. We have to say that the phone looks different from other budget devices, and we would hope that it comes with a good build quality. Although the P51 did feature a good build, it was way too expensive.
The phone features WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, etc radios as far as connectivity is concerned.
Comparison
As our readers are aware, the country has seen a massive bump in quad core smartphone releases in the past 4-6 months. It all started with the Canvas HD, and many other devices followed.
Devices like the Lava Iris 506q, XOLO Q1000, iBall Andi 5h Quadro among others might give the P11 a run for its money.

Conclusion
The phone looks good without doubt. What we hope is that the P11 carry a similar build as that of the P51. However, the phone is priced at a steep 16,364 INR which might put off many a buyer. Similarly spec’d phones from other manufacturers like XOLO are available for anywhere between 9-13k INR, which is much lesser than what Panasonic are asking for the P11. However, after sales service from Panasonic is expected to be better by leaps and bounds. This is one reason which might still get the P11 a few buyers.
