Apple’s iPad 5th generation is out with a sleek and light body design. iPad Air sports a Aluminium unibody design and weighs 481 grams which is significantly lighter than last generations 653 gram iPad. Apple has managed to pack more performance in this lighter device which makes it quite attractive.
The 28% lighter and 20% thinner(9.4 VS 7.5 mm) iPad Air sports a 9.7 Inch retina display with 2048 x 1563 pixels. The Display size is therefore similar to the last generations iPad.
The new iPad Air is powered by 64 Bit A7 chipset which supports latest ARMv8 architecture and will give you 8 X better performance than iPad first generation and up to 72 x Boost in graphics performance along with improved battery life!
The M7 motion coprocessor is also present which measures motion from your iPad mini by pulling data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass and thus your A7 is taxed less in order to conserve battery.
The WiFi is now two times faster and the 1.2 MP faceTime camera is capable of HD video recording. The Dual band Microphone has been provided to further aid your video calls. The back camera is again of 5 MP with f/2.4 aperture and is capable of Full HD video recording.
The battery life remains same at 10 hours. The new iPad Air runs on iOS 7 operating system and will seamlessly integrate with various iOS devices over iCloud.
Overall most of the specs match those of iPad Mini retina display. You can buy colorful smart cases for iPad for $80. The 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage variants are expected to cost $500, $600, $700, and $800. LTE models should cost $630, $730, $830, and $930. This new tablet will compete against the likes of Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 Inch and Nexus 10. iPad Air will be available after 1st November.
