After the success of the Huawei Ascend Mate phablet (Full Review) which was much appreciated for the extra screen real estate and a massive 4050 mAh battery, Huawei is now back with the second generation of the popular phablet ,dubbed as Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G at CES 2014!

The display size and resolution of this refreshed Ascend Mate remain same as its predecessor. The IPS LCD display size is 6.1 inch and the display resolution is 720p HD. Huawei claims that the IPS Panel used is better than the predecessor phablet.

The Chinese version of this device will use Hisilicon’s SoC, which houses 1.6 GHz quad core processor based on Cortex A9 architecture. The International version will sport, Snapdragon MSM8928 SoC which is Snapdragon 400 with 4 Cortex A7 based cores clocked at 1.6 GHz and assisted by Adreno 305 GPU.

The RAM capacity is 2 GB and internal memory is 16 GB. You can further extend it using microSD card support. On the software front, you will get Android 4.2.2 jelly bean operating system with Emotion UI2.0 on top.

The primary camera employs a 13 MP F/ 2.0 second generation BSI sensor from Sony. The front camera is no slouch either with f/2.4 aperture and 5 MP sensor with 1.4 micrometer pixel size for better absorption of light under low light conditions.

The second generation Ascend Mate retains the copious battery capacity of 4050 mAh which Huawei claims is the largest in the industry and will comfortably last for up to 2 days with moderate usage. Huawei Ascend Mate 2 will also sport Cat 4 LTE connectivity.

Huawei acknowledged that it will launch Huawei Ascend Mate 2 globally. Over all the new Huawei Ascend Mate 2 sports a similar spec sheet like it predecessor with some much needed updates to keep up with the modern scenario. We are expecting the price to be in range of 25,000 INR to 30,000 INR. The phone is expected to be available in second quarter of 2014.
