Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 Sturdy Windows Tablet with 7 inch Display

Panasonic has unveiled a rugged Windows tablet at CES 2014, Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1, which is tough enough to hold under abusive outdoor conditions and survive shocks and falls from up to 5 feet. Panasonic is marketing this tablet for enterprise-friendly and rugged outdoor conditions.

The Display is 7 inches in size with 1200 x 800 WXGA resolution. The resolution is standard in 7 and 8 inch windows tablets. Since the tablet is designed for outdoor conditions, the outside visibility of 500 nits display will be above par. On the software front you will get Windows 8.1 Operating System.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 will be powered by 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 vPro processor and Intel Celeron processor. The RAM capacity is 4 GB and can be extended to 8 GB.

The Toughbook segment contributes significantly to Panasonic’s overall turnover and we are hoping to drive increment in the market share from this segment in the coming years.”

The primary camera has a 5 MP sensor supported by LED flash and the secondary Autofocus 2MP camera is also present for those interested in video calling. The tablet is 17 mm thick and weighs 540 grams.

The Battery capacity is 3220 mAh and you can extract 8 hours of battery life with moderate usage. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, optional 3G/4G LTE, USB 3.0 port, optional Smart Card Reader, optional Barcode Reader, optional NFC, Magnetic Stripe Reader and optional Serial Port.

The tablet flaunts impressive and productive spec sheet. The rugged tablet is IP65 certified, which implies it is resistant to water and dust. The tablet is aimed at business users and will be expensive. The price announced at CES press conference was whooping $2099.
