Hot on the heels of a Micromax Canvas 2.2 that exploded, leaving the user injured in Delhi, is another Micromax device, namely the Funbook tablet PC. According to Broadbandforum.co forum user androidfreak, he had a tryst with his friend’s Micromax Funbook tablet that almost recreated what happened a few days back.
Apparently, a friend of androidfreak had been calling him over to inspect a swollen up Micromax Funbook tablet he owned. Upon reaching his friend’s place, androidfreak was surprised to see a beefed up tablet with a battery swollen to an extent that the rear cover of the device came off.
Quoting androidfreak’s post on Broadbandforum.co,
A friend was telling me to check his Micromax Funbook tab since quite a long time. According to him, the back panel was popping out and was no longer fitting back. Paid a visit to him yesterday and I was shocked to see the tab
I have never seen a battery swollen like this before. The tab was still working with this battery. I immediately disconnected the battery and disposed it off of before it could explode
He also posted pictures of the device as you can see here, which seem quite convincing and in agreement with what he reports.
These aren’t great signs for a company that’s managed to amass quite a reputation for itself in the past few years. We hope manufacturers notice this and take preventive measures against such incidences in the future.
