Micromax mobiles will soon launch a dust and splash proof phones in India according to prolific leakster MMXNewscaster. The phone comes with IP67 certification similar to some high-end Xperia series phones. This will be the first time a domestic manufacturer introduces a waterproof phone in India at budget price range.

From the images, the phone looks like most other budget Canvas series phones, only a bit thicker. The phone will hold for up to 1 m under water for up to 30 minutes.

A waterproof phone is again a first in budget price range from Micromax, and will certainly be physically more durable. Hope Micromax also packs powerful hardware under the hood, for the IP67 certification alone won’t make it a good buy.
