China’s Goophone S5 is a clone of Samsung’s Galaxy S5

Those following Chinese tech might well be aware of the ‘Goophone’ phenomenon. The manufacturer, best known for producing higher-quality knock-offs than some other domestic compatriots, just unveiled the Goophone S5 which happens to be a clone of (no points for guessing)… the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Goophone has always grabbed headlines after every major announcement from the likes of Apple, Samsung, etc. Previously, the company had been associated with cloning Apple devices, especially when they released the Goophone i5S which was an iPhone 5S clone.

Coming back to the Goophone S5, not only does the device pack the look and feel of the original Samsung thing, but it surprisingly comes with features some might be after. This includes a 5-inch display of 1080p, a powerful 2GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek, the MT6592, a solid 2 gigs of RAM and ample storage in 32GB.

The device also packs dual SIM functionality along with a camera department consisting of a 13 mega-pixel rear and a 5 mega-pixel front. The Goophone S5 comes preinstalled with Android v4.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 2,800mAh battery.

No word on international availability yet (we’re certain buyers will flock this one anyway), but the device is available for purchase at the Goophone website for $299.99 which isn’t a bad deal considering the tech it packs.
