LG showcases a slew of new products at LG Tech Fest 2014

LG, the global consumer durable electronics giant just showcased a range of more than 230 electronic products at the LG Tech Show 2014 which was in its second edition this year. The core of the technology extravaganza was smart technology and energy efficiency which are the need of the hour. It showcased its flagship products across different electronics categories.

Mr. Soon Kwon, MD, LG India, at the LG Tech Show, unveiling the LG Curve...

Getting showcased were an ULTRA HD CURVED OLED TV, the Web OS TV, G Pro 2 phablet, the 4G LTE smart phone range, India’s 1st 5 star rated refrigerator with smart inverter, Mosquito away AC,: India’s first Stainless Steel RO Water Purifier and the LG Lifeband Touch, which marked the company’s debut in the wearable technology arena.

LG Lifeband Touch is compatible with heart rate monitors (HRM) and smart phones. It features featuring a touch OLED panel which is used to display time, biometrics, incoming calls and music controls. The company does not do really well in the smartphone arena in the country but is nevertheless a resilient one. LG G2 in gold colour and 4G LTE variants was showcased along with the recently launched G Pro 2 flagship phablet.

The mid-range L-III series was showcased at the event as well and it also showcased the LG X3 which will be a budget 4G smartphone whose full functionality will be available once the 4G roll out in the country begins in full swing later this year.

LG also showcased what it has in store for the personal computing vertical and it showcased it 21.5 inch Chromebase AIO desktop which runs on Google Chrome OS and features the 4th generation of Intel CPU. It will be priced on the lower side of things. The country’s 1st 5 star rated refrigerator was also showcased at the event which complies with the new energy saving norms and gives up to 36 percent energy savings.

A new kind of a vacuum cleaner with the moniker of HOM-BOT Square was a pretty nice touch at the event. It can be programmed to clean at set times in accordance with personal preferences of the user. It didn’t want to leave away the B2B customers as well and showcased an 84 inch Ultra HD Multi-Touch Signange for conferences and classrooms which will support up to 10 touches at once.

LG does well in the consumer durable vertical globally as well as in India but the smartphone arena has not been its strongest forte in India. If it prices its Lifeband Touch and upcoming smartphones right, it might just strike a chord with the Indian consumers.
