Seagate technology today launched, Backup Plus Fast Portable drive, which it claims is the world’s fastest 4TB storage device, in India for 25,000 INR. The portable drive is capable of transfer speeds as high as 220 Mbps through its USB 3.0 interface.
Country Manager, Seagate, Mr. Rajesh Khurana stated that the product has been designed for real world challenges and the company’s expectations of major revenue coming from adoption by creative professionals. The device aims at saving the valuable time utilized in data transfer for large sized files, which is priority for professionals like movie makers and photographers.
The metal case on top is resistant to scratches and finger grease. On the inside the drive is configured as RAID O, which implies its use for critical environments will be limited as there can be total loss of data in case one drive dies, but increased transfer speed and cost reduction will offset the cons for most people.
The “Backup” Moniker refers to popular Seagate dashboard software will provide with an easy one click back up solution in the new Backup Plus Fast Portable drive. You can also schedule and enable backup for social media networks like Facebook, so that you don’t lose images and videos on your social media channels.
The , Backup Plus Slim Portable 500 GB has been priced at 4,250 INR, where as for 1 TB slim variant you will have to shell out 6,000 INR. The 2TB Slim is labeled 10,500 INR and the flagship, Backup Plus 4TB Fast will cost you 25,000 INR. The high capacity Segate Backup Plus Desktop 3.5 inch is available in 2TB, 3 TB and 4 TB for Rs. 8,200, Rs. 11,500 and Rs. 14,000 respectively.
