Lava Iris 550q with 5.5 Inch Display Launched at 13,000 INR in India

After Lava Iris Pro 30 lava is back with Lava Iris 550q. The Handset doesn’t feature the ‘Pro’ moniker but seems to follow the same design centric philosophy. The phone has been priced at Rs. 13,000 and runs on Android 4.2 jelly bean operating system.

The display is 5.5 inches in size and this one too is a 720p HD IPS LCD panel coming from Sharp technologies. Bezel has been narrowed down to 3 mm. Also onboard is OGS (One Glass Solution) technology and lamination on the display.

The processor used is 1.2 GHz quad core and it is most likely MediaTek MT6589 series chipset backed by 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. MicroSD expansion is supported up to 32 GB.

The primary auto focus camera features an 8 MP BSI sensor and is capable of full HD video recording. The secondary camera at the front is a 2 MP unit for basic video calling.


The battery capacity is 2600 mAh will last for 10 hours of talk time on 2G, which is not as impressive considering the battery rating. Connectivity features include the usual set with 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth etc.

The Lava Iris 550q has been competitively priced and will definitely attract those looking for a large sized phablet at a budget price point. It will mainly compete with phones like Micromax Canvas Xl, Xolo Q2000 and Xolo Q2500.
