Samsung Galaxy K Zoom with 20.7 MP Camera, Optical Zoom and Hexa Core Announced

Call it ugly, but Samsung is not willing to give up on its Zoom series just yet. The Korean manufacturer has announced Samsung Galaxy K Zoom and though its debatable if it’s a phone with a camera or a camera with calling facility, but this time it looks more like a phoneas compared to its predecessor Galaxy S4 Zoom.

The Galaxy K Zoom borrows the perforated plastic back from the flagship Galaxy S5 and the 20.7 MP camera housed at the rear, features 10 x optical Zoom, Xenon Flash, BSI Sensor, Optical image stabilization and 1080p Video recording at 60fps.

Samsung has used a new retracting lens technology which enables Galaxy K Zoom to house Optical Zoom in a relatively slim 20.5 mm thick body. Other camera related features include Auto Focus/ Auto Exposure Separation, Pro Suggest with 5 optimized filter settings, Selfie Alarm to take timed selfies and object tracing.

The Super AMOLED display is 4.8 inches in size and sports 720p HD resolution. The processor used is Hexa core Exynos 5260 chipset (1.7 GHz Dual Core+ 1.3 GHz Quad core)aided with Mali-t624 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Internal storage is 8 GB and can be further extended by 64 GB using MicroSD support.


On the software front, Samsung is offering Android 4.4 KitKat. Battery is rated at 2430 mAh and connectivity features include 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth v4.0 LE, aGPS, GLONASS and NFC.

The camera centric phone weighs 200 grams which is actually quite heavy considering the form factor. Galaxy K Zoom features high end specifications and will come with a high end price. Samsung Galaxy K Zoom will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White and Electric Blue colors.
