Samsung started the trend of selling miniature variants of its flagship smartphones in the Galaxy S lineup especially for those users who prefer to own smaller and cheaper devices. Though these phones come with slightly downgraded specs, but they retain the same positive traits that the original models possess.
This year, the South Korean tech giant’s flagship phone – Galaxy S5 has already hit the retail shelves in several markets across the globe and it is the time to talk about its mini model, the Galaxy S5 Mini.
Last week, the Samsung Finland support page listed the alleged The Galaxy S5 Mini carrying the model number SM-G800F. Now, samsunggalaxy5abonnement spotted the same handset on Zauba, the import/export website that keeps a check on the imports and exports to and from India.
As per the Zauba listing, the purported SM-G800F is said to be the Galaxy S5 Mini featuring a display measuring 4.47 inches, which is big enough as compared to the 4.3 inch screen on its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Mini. Also, the website claims that the handset will arrive in several variants that come with the codename SM-G800.
The 4.47 display seems to be in sync with the earlier leaks that suggest that the Galaxy S5 Mini bearing the model number SM-G800 will include a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display panel. As mentioned above, the SM-G800F that was spotted on the import/export site is one variant of the handset.
Talking of the rumored specifications of the alleged Galaxy S5 Mini, the handset is said to run on Android 4.4 KitKat and come stuffed with a quad-core Snapdragon processor paired with 1.5 GB of RAM. It is claimed to feature an 8 MP primary camera at its back supplemented with a 2 MP front-facing snapper. Speculations also hint at 16 GB of internal storage space, IR Blaster and 2,100 mAh battery.
At this point of time, none of the other details are known and there is no clarity if the phone will include the fingerprint scanner, IP67 certification and heart rate monitor as its bigger brother.
