WhatsApp, the popular messaging application is absconding from the Windows Phone Marketplace all of the sudden. It appears like the app has encountered many problems with Windows Phone 8.1 OS, but is working well with the previous version WP8.
On searching for WhatsApp from a Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 based device, the result reads “We couldn’t find a match. Try a different spelling or search term.” On the other hand, searching for the app on the Windows Phone Store, an error pops up reading “The app is no longer published.”
It appears like Facebook that acquired WhatsApp has removed the app from Windows app store without providing any official reason regarding the move. However, it is gossiped that the app would not have functioned well on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform leaving the team with no other option than to take it back until the issues are resolved.
As per media reports, the users of WhatsApp for Window have claimed on reviews that the service has been crashing a lot on Windows Phone after its January update with no option to upload audio files from SD card. There are claimed that the app has also started working slowly.
On contacting Facebook to comment on WhatsApp, it was told that “due to technical issues, we have chosen to un-publish WhatsApp Messenger on the Windows Phone platform,” claims a WPCenteral report.
