Micromax has officially launched 2 new Windows Phone devices as part of its Canvas Series dubbed as the Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092. Both devices have been priced at 9,500 INR and 6,500 INR and will be available starting from July 2014
Canvas Win W121 is the high end model of the two and is powered by Snapdragon 200 Quad core aided with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. This seems enough power to smoothly sail on a Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. MicroSD card support is also available for up to 32 GB expansion.
The IPS LCD display is 5 inches in size and bears 720p HD resolution. The display won’t be a deal breaker in this price range. Imaging hardware includes 8 MP rear shooter and a 2 MP front camera for video calling.
Micromax has also provided with dual SIM connectivity, proximity, gravity, and light sensors, an accelerometer all wrapped up in a leather rear finish.
The Canvas Win W092 on the other hand is a slightly trimmed down variant with the same chipset priced at 6,500 INR. Yes, Micromax has provided with the same Snapdragon 200 Quad core backed by 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage in this variant as well.
The display is smaller at 4 inches and bears WVGA 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Imaging hardware includes 5 MP rear camera backed by 0.3 MP VGA front facing camera. The phone will support dual SIM functionality as well. Battery capacity for Win W092 is 1500 mAh.
Do you thing Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 will mark a dent in sales of Windows Phones 8.1 devices like Nokia Lumia 630? Microsoft certainly disagrees.

These new devices are a result of the announcement we made back in February at Mobile World Congress with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and $0 Windows for devices smaller than 9-inches in size which has enabled partners to more quickly and efficiently bring Windows Phones in to their mobile devices portfolio.”
