On Monday, Karbonn has definitely been busy with the launch of couple of new smartpones – Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite and Karbonn A99i. Both the smartphones have been released into the nation via online retailers. While we have already seen about the Titanium S9 Lite, the other handset is priced at Rs 4,787 and it is available from Flipkart.

When it comes to specifications, the Karbonn A99i boasts of an average 4 inch display that is fitted with a dual-core processor ticking at 1.3 GHz paired with a mere 512 MB of RAM. Fueled by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the smartphone features a 5 MP primary snapper and a VGA front-facing camera responsible for making basic video calls.

Also onboard is a low 4 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded externally by means of a micro SD card and connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and dual SIM functionality. The handset includes a low 1,200 mAh battery powering the internals, which sounds disappointing on paper.

While the entry-level smartphones are advancing with aspiring specifications, the launch of the Karbonn A99i with basic features and specs is average. Of course, the market is flooded with many smartphones that are better alternatives to this offering.

  1. Ms.Abhinaya could please explain what are the limitations of a entry level smart phone compared to the normal smart phone to enable understanding the difference between the two.

    • entry level phones have low end hardware. You get what you pay for. They are meant for first time android users who are switching from feature phones and want just one or two smartphone phone functionality like whatsApp of Skype. They don’t give good android experience in the long run.

  2. Mr.Deepak, thanQ for ur kind clarification on entry level smart phone and pl also let me know that because this is an entry level phone, the RAM is kept low.
