We finally have something concrete on Canvas Gold A300. The phone is now retailing on Infibeam for 24,000 INR and yes, the display size is 5.5 Inch. Earlier rumors reported both 5 and 5.5 inch screen real estate creating some confusion.

Processor employed is 2.0 GHz MT6589 Octa Core, which is the flagship processor from MediaTek assisted by Mali 450 MP4 GPU. That’s ample processing prowess that you could use, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

All this hardware fuels Android 4.4.2 KitKat and perhaps stock interface on 5.5 inch Full HD display. Full HD display phablets are still a rare phenomenon in mid range segment. Of course, the offering would have been more attractive if the price was a couple of thousand less.

Imaging hardware includes a 16 MP shooter at the rear and a 5 MP front camera and Micromax is probably using the same hardware as in Canvas Knight 350, which is a good thing. The battery capacity is 2300 mAh and company claims this to last for 8 hours of talk time and 210 hours of standby time.

Canvas A300 Gold will compete with the likes of HTC Desire 816. Micromax has been following a weird pricing model these days, Unite 2 and Canvas Knight A350 were retailing at significant more than launch price. Let’s see how it goes for A300 after the official launch.
