A few months after the launch of Galaxy S5, Samsung has officially announced, Galaxy S5 broadband LTE-A – a Quad HD 2K Display variant of the flagship phone in Korea with Snapdragon 805 processor. The phone packs best of what is out there, in line with what is expected from leading Android Giant.
It is the first smartphone that we are seeing with Snapdragon 805 SoC, the best and perhaps the last 32 bit SoC from Qualcomm. The chipset employs new and improved Krait 450 cores (Slightly improved from Krait 400 in Snapdragon 800/ 801). The chipset also introduces Adreno 420 GPU which is expected to handle graphic better.
RAM capacity has been bumped up to 3 GB and on the storage front, you will get 32 GB internal Nand flash expandable by another 128 GB. The phone also flaunts IP67 ratings for Dust and water Resistance and latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
5.1 inch Super AMOLED Display features 2560 X 1440 QHD resolution which shoots up the pixel density to 575 Pixels per inches. It’s hard to discern the effect of such high resolutions on a smartphone display, but consumer demand made it imperative for Samsung to provide one. The Galaxy S5 with Full HD resolution also sports best AMOLED display you would need.
Imaging hardware includes 16 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2.1 MP front camera similar to Galaxy S5. Battery capacity hasn’t been enhanced and remains same at 2800 mAh and connectivity features include 4G LTE-A (up to 225 Mbps) / 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth v4.0 LE, GPS.
For now the smartphone is available only in Korea with a price tag of 940,500 won (Approx 55,340 INR). In India, Samsung is still retailing the Exynos Chipset variant, but it’s still a good deal at 36,000 INR. There is no info on Global availability as of now.
