Taiwanese tech titan Asus renowned for its Nexus 7 and hybrid FonePad devices in the market appears to be on a full swing to release its Zenfone offerings in India. Unleashed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in January, the trio of smartphones in the Zenfone lineup is based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and they are soon to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
According to the latest reports, the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 will be released in India on July 9, 2014. Those at Gizbot had managed to find out that this smartphone lineup will be hitting the retail shelves in the country by July and now, a Times of India report finalizes the date as well. Apart from this, the report also speculates that the smartphones will be priced in the sub Rs 25,000 segment to garner the attention of the mid-range smartphone seekers.
Going by the specifications, the Asus Zenfone 4 is fitted with a 4 inch display with WVGA 480×800 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed up 1 GB of RAM. There is 4 GB of native storage space that can be expanded up to 64 GB and a 5 MP primary shooter paired with a VGA front-facing camera for making basic video calls. A 1,170 mAh battery powers the phone from within delivering a mediocre backup to the same.
The Zenfone 5 arrives with a larger 5 inch display with HD 720p resolution layered woth Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is stuffed with a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor. There is a similar 4 GB of internal storage capacity that can be further extended up to 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card and 1 GB of RAM. Furthermore, the handset includes 8 MP PixelMaster primary camera with LED flash, 2 MP front-facer and 2,110 mAh battery.
Lastly, the Zenfone 6 is a phablet featuring a gigantic 6 inch IPS display that includes HD 720p resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It includes a similar 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor as in its 5 inch sibling and is paired with 1 GB of RAM. The improvements come in the storage and camera segments as the device features 8 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded up to 64 GB, 13 MP PixelMaster snapper at the back with LED flash a similar 2 MP front-facer. This larger device includes a juicier 3,300 mAh battery that can deliver a decent backup.
