Earlier this month, it was reported that the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will be releasing its smartphones in India sometime soon. Now, a BGR India report claims that the vendor is planning to launch two of its smartphones in the country in mid-July and early August.
Xiaomi tied up with the online retailer Flipkart to exclusively sell its offerings in the country. While Motorola handsets are also available exclusively via the same retailer the difference is that the Motorola smartphones are imported to India by Flipkart, whereas Xiaomi India will take charge of the importing task and Flipkart has to just retail them, claims the report.
The first two Xiaomi smartphones to cross the boundary will be Redmi and Mi3. The Redmi is an entry-level smartphone boasting a 4.7 inch HD 720p IPS display and powered by a quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor ticking at 1.5 GHz paired with 1 GB of RAM. The handset has 4 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded with the help of a micro SD card. Handling the imaging department is an 8 MP primary camera that is accompanied by a 1.3 MP front-facer. The handset runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean topped with Xiaomi MIUI V5.
On the other hand, the Mi3 is the flagship smartphone of Xiaomi and it houses a 5 inch IPS FHD 1080p display and runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Under the hood is a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor paired with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The handset bundles 16 GB of default storage capacity, 13 MP main camera with dual-flash and 2 MP front-facer, both with FHD 1080p video calling.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi3 has connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Powering the device is a 3,050 mAh battery that can pump in a decent backup to the phone.
According to the report, sources claim that the Xiaomi Redmi will cost below Rs 10,000 while the Xiaomi Mi3 will be priced in the Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 price bracket. Besides launching these smartphones, Xiaomi is also claimed to announce a range of accessories including the 10,400 mAh battery power bank that is claimed to be priced attractively below Rs 1,000.
