On Thursday, Apple has announced has refreshed its 16 GB iPod touch variant and slashed the prices of the 32 GB and 64 GB variants. Until this recent development, the 16 GB model came without a rear camera and only in a Silver color variant. Now, it arrives with a 5 MP iSight primary camera that is capable of shooting FHD 1080p videos in vibrant color options such as Red, Space Grey, Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow.
Consequently, the 16 GB variant is similar to the other variants and all the devices arrive with 4 inch Retina Display, Apple A5 SoC and FaceTime front-facing snapper for video calling. Furthermore, these devices run on iOS 7, support Apple Siri and include a battery that is rated to deliver 40 hours of audio playback and 8 hours of video playback.
Coming to the pricing, the revamped 16 GB iPod Touch is priced at Rs 16,900, while the previous generation model without rear camera costed Rs 17,800. As mentioned above, the price of the 32 GB has been dropped from Rs 22,900 to Rs 20,900 and that of the 64 GB is slashed from Rs 29,900 to Rs 24,900. Furthermore, these two models will come with a bundled Loop wrist strap.
While the reason for the sudden drop in the pricing of the iPod touch linup is now known, a media reports state that the Apple iPod lineup launched initially in 2001 that was a rage among the consumers is now one of the lowest contributors to the Cupertino based tech titan. Apparently, Apple appears to be trying hard to sell the devices in this lineup by cutting their prices accordingly in order to garner the attention of consumers.
