Update: Lumia 930 launched in India for 38,649 INR
The Nokia Lumia 930 that is available in the European and Asian markets is awaiting its Indian launch. Well, the handset is listed by the e-commerce portal Flipkart with a ‘coming soon’ status. Moreover, it has to be noted that the retailer has not revealed any details regarding the pricing or the availability of the handset. If you are planning to purchase the handset soon after launch of the device, here is a quick review of the Lumia 930 for you to decide.
Camera and Storage
The camera unit at the back of the Lumia 930 is a 20 MP one based on Carl Zeiss optics. This sensor is coupled with dual LED flash, OIS, auto focus, PureView technology and FHD 1080p video recording. Also onboard is a 1.2 MP front-facing snapper that helps in making quality video calls at HD 720p and in clicking gorgeous selfies. While the high resolution sensor will give excellent details in good lighting conditions, the OIS will provide decent low light performance.
The native storage capacity of the handset is pretty impressive at 32 GB, but the handset lacks a micro SD expandable card slot that facilitates in expanding the default storage. However, the 32 GB of native storage should be sufficient to handle all the storage requirements of the users. Moreover, Microsoft is providing up to 15 GB of OneDrive cloud storage space to backup the content.
Processor and Battery
The device is based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset that houses a quad-core Krait 400 processor that ticks at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 graphics unit. This chipset will lag behind the Snapdragon 801 chipset that powers the latest Android flagship models. Though the one in the Lumia 930 not as powerful as the latest chipset, Windows Phone devices are usually less power hungry and hence it should not be a big issue. Furthermore, there is 2 GB of RAM under the hood that will facilitate in better multi-tasking.
The battery unit energizing the Lumia 930 is a 2,420 mAh one that s rated to deliver a decent backup of 15.5 hours of talk time on 3G, 432 hours of standby time and 75 hours of music playing.
Display and Features
The Lumia 930 uses a 5 inch AMOLED display that packs FHD screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. The display uses the ClearBlack display technology that uses a sequence of polarizing layers to do away with reflections making the device readable even under direct sunlight. Also, the screen is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent scratches and damage due to everyday usage.
The handset runs on Windows Phone 8.1 and arrives with connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro USB.
Comparison
The Lumia 930 will be a stiff competitor to the Android biggies such as Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, Gionee Elife S5.5 and others that are available in the market with high-end specifications.
