Gionee has been quite successful in the Indian smartphone arena with the launch of a slew of its smartphones with solid specifications and competitive pricing. The firm is still coming up with improvements in order to stay ahead of the competition.

In a recent development, the China based firm has rolled out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade to one of the offerings – Gionee Elife E7 mini. Earlier this month, the Gionee Elife S5.5 and CTRL V5 received the same upgrade. However, unlike the OTA updates released for the previous set of smartphones, the one meant for the Elife E7 mini requires flash tools to get installed. Also, consumers can take their handsets to the Gionee Service centers to get it upgraded free of cost.

The KitKat update not only brings in a revamped user interface and adds a host of new features to enhance the user experience greatly. It also adds new features such as the ones mentioned below:

• New desktop layout
• Updated Amigo Paper with new user interface
• Removed the world cricket champion game, texas poker, green farmer and wonder zoo
• Added Du speed booster for faster operations
• Updated game zone with a new user interface design for better control of the gaming apps
• Updated GioneeXender for optimized performance rendering high speed file transfer improving the linking success rate
• Updated UC browser that makes the handset more responsive improving the page loading effects
• Added Touch Pal input method and camcard
• Updated NQ Mobile Security for better protection of the phone
• Updated Kingsoft WPS for improved work and study related operations
• Updated map with only one entrance into the main menu
