Lenovo Announces Android KitKat update for 6 Mid-Range Smartphones in India

Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has announced Android 4.4 Kitkat update for 6 mid range smartphones in India viz. Lenovo S650, S820, S920, S660, 930 and P780. This is a good news as several users have been waiting for this update in India and also because Lenovo is still supporting handsets launched more than a year ago in India.

Better late than never! The kitkat OTA update will be pushed in batches over the period of next one and a half months, commencing from next week. The OTA will also bring new Vibe UI besides KitKat and thus KitKat UI changes won’t be as explicit.

Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphone, Lenovo India, said, “After rolling out updates for Vibe Z, Vibe X and S860 last month, we are now bringing Android 4.4 to six of our mid-range smartphones at various price points. These updates are poised to take the user experience of these phone to a different level. In the last two years in India, we have grown leaps and bounds launching over 18 smartphones, each addressing specific user requirement, and we aim to continue this growth trajectory with newer models and iterations.”

Lenovo also mentioned that it will bring same UI to all 6 smartphones and the update will include DOit apps – SECUREit, SHAREit and SYNCit. Other changes include new dialer interface, updated Lenovo Power Manager, Features like Face orientation rotation, smart call, Pocket mode and parental mode.
