Karbonn Titanium S19 Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Karbonn, the third largest smartphone manufacturer has been loosing out on share in India for a while now but it keeps on trying to bounce back every now and then. It is currently working on strengthening its sub Rs 10,000 portfolio and has quietly slipped in the Titanium S19 for Rs 8,999 and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. The device looks a decent one and will have a lot of competition to ward off with the entry of Xiaomi in the sub Rs 10,000 segment. Let us take a quick review of its specifications.

Camera and Internal Storage

The camera at the back of the S19 is a 13MP unit with a LED flash. We do not really expect it to be one of the best in business but will be slightly better than the other 5MP/8MP snappers in the range. The front camera is a 5MP unit which will do the job of taking selfies for you just fine.

The internal storage capacity stands at 8GB which is slowly becoming the standard in Rs 8,000 plus devices. And we really like that Karbonn has adopted the same. The internal storage capacity can be further expanded by another 32GB with the help of a microSD card.

Processor and Battery

Under the hood is a 1.3 GHz quad core Mediatek processor which finds its way into a slew of other budget quad core smartphones in India and does the job of processing pretty well. It gets mated to a 1GB RAM to take charge of multitasking. It is a good package but with Xiaomi Redmi 1S and  Note lurking around the corner, these might seem a bit less.

Taking charge of juicing up the device is a 2,000 mAh battery. The same is expected to last the smartphone for a day on a single charge and moderate usage. However, in real world we have seen Karbonn’s battery draining out pretty fast so the battery is not really one of its strong points.

Display and Features

The display is a 5 inch IPS unit which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is based on One Glass Solution Technology. It has decent viewing angles and colour reproduction is average too. But then this is what you get in this price range so we can’t really complain about it either.

Comparison

The Titanium S19 will be up against the likes of Lumia 630 (Single SIM), Panasonic T21 and Micromax Canvas Elanza A93.

Price and Conclusion

It has been priced at Rs 8,999 and offers a decent amount of value for money too. But the only issue we have is the fact that eventhough it is a well specced and well priced device, the competition from global brands is fierce and will definitely mark a dent in its sales.
