While the Indian smartphone market is abuzz with the launch of the low-end Android One smartphones, Intex has entered the battle with an ultra affordable smartphone dubbed Aqua T2. The device priced at Rs 2,699 becomes the cheapest Android KitKat based smartphone breaking the record created by Celkon Campus A35K. The Intex Aqua T2 is available for purchase exclusively via the e-commerce giant Flipkart.
Being a low-end smartphone, it does not pack in aspiring specifications, but they are acceptable considering its low price tag. The Intex phone flaunts a 3.5 inch HVGA display with a resolution of 320×480 pixels and is stuffed with a MediaTek MT6571 dual-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. This processor is aided by 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of native storage capacity with support for expandable storage up to 32 GB.
The camera features onboard the Intex Aqua T2 are pretty basic with a 2 MP primary camera paired with LED flash and a VGA front-facer for selfies and video calling. In the connectivity department, the Intex phone falls short with 2G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and dual SIM functionality and no 3G. It uses a 1,200 mAh battery to energize itself providing moderate hours of backup.
Regarding the launch, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Mobile Business Head, Intex Technologies said, “Our latest offering in the Aqua collection – The T2 is a technology front runner available at an amazing price point. Amongst all handsets offering 4.4 Kitkat OS today, this one is definitely the lowest in the price segment and it comes with a 3.5 inch screen coupled with a 2G network. We are delighted to partner with e-commerce giant Flipkart and hope to further our association with more such innovative and best priced devices in the coming future.”
