Apple iPad Air 2 with only 6.1 mm thick Body Officially Launched Starting $499

Apple iPad Air 2 has been officially introduced by Apple and is now the world’s slimmest tablet at 6.1 mm body thickness. Its 18 percent thinner and also lighter than its predecessor, but on the inside, it packs much more raw grunt with the new A8X chipset and M8 motion coprocessor doing all the heavy lifting. The chipset has been specially designed for iPad family.

The new 8 MP iSight camera at the rear can record 1080p videos, supports burst mode, panorama shots (43 MP), HDR and more. You can also shoot time lapse videos and 120fps slow motion videos. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor has also been made available for the iPad family along with Apple Pay via TouchID. iPad Air 2 won’t get Apple Pay support for brick and mortar stores via NFC Chip.

The front camera has been updated as well with a new sensor and HDR mode. Battery life however remains same at 10 hours. connectivity features include 802.11ac MiMO wifi with support for up to 866 Mbps and over 20 bands of LTE at up to 150 Mpbs. Due to the slim design, display reflectivity has been reduced by around 56 percent.

iPad Air 2 will be available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold colors at $499, $599 and $699 for 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants.WiFi + LTE variants will cost $629, $729 and $829 respectively. Pre-orders start on October 17, availability starts on 24^th October.
