After a few teasers, First Gen Dual Screen Yota Phone will be available for purchase from e-commerce giant Flipkart priced at 23,499 INR, starting tomorrow. The arrival was on the cards after flipkart accidentally leaked the upcoming product couple of weeks back.
The Russian manufacturer has launched 2 dual display YotaPhone so far and the one selling in India will be the first generation model. First generation YotaPhone has a 4.3 Inch IPS LCD display at the front with 720p HD resolution and an 4.3 Inch e-ink display (like the one in Kindle readers) at the back with 640 x 360 pixels.
The Dual screen concept does make sense. It will be appealing to users who read a lot on their smartphones as the e-ink display gives no stress to eyes, has excellent sunlight visibility and consumes very less battery. These are things which every avid smartphone user can value. The e-ink display however cannot be used in dark and low light conditions.
YotaPhone is powered by 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 400 dual krait core SoC backed by 2 GB RAM and with 32 GB internal storage. Imaging hardware includes a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1 MP front shooter.
Software is now dated Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean. Company claims that the 1800 mAh battery inside is 7 times as powerful when compared to other conventional smartphones. The company is apparently very serious and reassuring about how revolutionary and extra ordinary, battery life on YotaPhone can be. We would however like to test these tall claims before believing them.
The second generation YotaPhone features a bigger and sharper 5 Inch Full HD display, 4.7 Inch qHD e-ink display, Snapdragon 800, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP rear camera, 2550 mAh battery and a more rounded design, however, this won’t be retailing in India any time soon. Since it has a bigger display, it will be more appealing to those who wish to read stuff on their smartphones.
