Lava has now joined the Windows Phone club with the launch of Lava Iris Win1, a Qualcomm Referenced Design smartphone which will compete against recently launched Celkon Win 400, with the same 4,999 INR price tag.
The Iris Win1 features a 4 Inch WVGA display with usable sharpness (233 ppi) and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 200 quad core CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz. Unlike Celkon Wind 400, the chipset is backed by double 1 GB RAM, which is noteworthy in this price range.
Storage has also been doubled to 8 GB and can be further expanded by another 32 GB using MicroSD card support. Imaging hardware is fairly basic and includes 5 MP rear shooter, coupled with a VGA front selfie shooter. Software is latest Windows Phone 8.1.

Out of 2 SIM card slot in Iris Win1, one will support 3G. There is a 1950 mAh battery which again sounds above average in this price range. Other features include 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.
Lava Iris Win1 will be available for 4,999 INR on Flipkart starting from 4th December 2014. If you are open to Windows based smartphones, Lava Iris Win 1 sounds the best on paper in the entry level price segment.
At the launch event Rajiv Ahlawat, Director – Mobility, Microsoft India said, “I congratulate LAVA on the launch of their first Windows Phone. The Iris Win1 will be available to Indian consumers exclusively on Flipkart. Our deep engagement with local OEMs is one of the engines of growth for Windows Phone and we are proud of our partnership with LAVA. With the Iris Win1, Windows Phone is now available to a whole new group of consumers in India, who are looking for innovation and value.”
