On Monday, Asus announced the FonePad 8 (FE380CG) tablet for the Indian market for a pricing of Rs 13,999. The slate arrives with dual SIM functionality, 3G connectivity and voice calling capability. Like the Zenfone models, the Asus offering will be available via online retailer Flipkart and from the Asus Exclusive stores as well.
The FonePad 8 features an 8 inch IPS display with a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels and it has an anti fingerprint coating on top. A quad core Intel Atom Z3560 processor ticking at 1.33 GHz clock speed powers the tablet from within and it is backed by PowerVR G6430 graphics unit and 2 GB of RAM.
The tablet bundles 16 GB of default memory capacity that can be expanded externally by another 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card. The FonePad 8 is based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system paired with Zen UI with enhancements. There is a 5 MP primary camera at the back of the Asus tablet with support for Full HD 1080p video recording ability and a 2 MP front facing selfie snapper with HD 720p video capturing capability.
Other aspects of the FonePad 8 (FE380CG) include 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for connectivity and a 4,000 mAh battery to energize the device from within.
