According to the press key note today, the update for Mi3 and Redmi Note 4G was scheduled for early February and update for Redmi 1S and Redmi Note was scheduled for late March, 2015.
Since Xiaomi has started beta testing MIUI 6 on Lollipop just a few days back, this new update will be based on Android 4.4 kitKat. MIUI 6 will bring a new design language which is simple and expressed in vibrant colors. Simpler to Android Lollipop and iOS 8, Xiaomi will put forward a much flatter UI with MIUI 6.
The notifications will be handled in a smarter way. MIUI 6 allows you to view notifications on lock screen and directly access apps from there. It also differentiates between priority and unimportant notifications and stacks unimportant ones for later. The notification system also switches to floating notifications to avoid interruption.
Several basic apps, including Mail App, Calendar, Messages, etc. have also been redesigned for better productivity. The Xiaomi Mi4 launched in India today is running MIUI 4 out of the box. We did like the new refreshed UI in our initial hands on time with the device.
