Motorola Moto E 2015 hasn’t changed considerably as compared to last year, especially talking about 3G variant, which will arrive in India Next week on March 10, 2015. The new Moto E is bigger, faster and finally has a front camera too. We were very excited about to checking this new upgrade and here are our first impressions.

Design, Build and Display
The new Moto E 2015 feels as solid and durable as ever. In fact, the quality of plastic used seems better than last time. You can buy a bundle of 3 side bands for just 20 dollars, and can peel off and replace side edges (which feel a little flimsy). This is a nice touch which will allow you to keep your phone in pristine condition for a long time.
The rear side has ergonomic curves which fit snugly in hands. Non removable parts of side edges have a texture pattern which looks good. The metallic power key and volume rocker provide decent feedback.
The display size has been marginally increased to 4.5 Inches, without any compromise in display quality. Last year’s Moto E had a brilliant display and the same can be said about the new variant. With qHD resolution, it is not the sharpest display for the price, but colors are quite vibrant on this IPS LCD panel.
Processor and RAM
The Snapdragon 410 in 4G LTE variant will be more efficient than Snapdragon 200 quad core Cortex A7 based SoC, with 1 GB RAM. Out of 1 GB, 479 MB is free on first boot, which is actually very good. We didn’t see any stuttering or lag in our time with the device and we expect that to hold true in the long run as well for basic and moderate users.
Camera and Internal Storage
Last year’s Moto E fixed focus rear camera was an absolute disappointment, and this year the 5 MP Auto focus camera is very usable, though not great. There is a VGA front camera which can be used for decent selfies. LED flash is still missing.
Internal storage has been increased to 8 GB out of which almost 5 GB is available at user end.
User Interface and Battery
Like always Motorola is using neat and clean Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which runs light and efficient. Motorola is using 32 bit version as most apps are optimized for 32 bit computing. This isn’t a bad thing and Motorola will later upgrade to 64 bit via OTA update, when required. There are some custom features like Moto assist and Moto Display.
Battery capacity has significantly increased to 2390 mAh. Last year’s Moto E impressed us with its battery backup and with 20 percent increased size, there is no reason to not expect great battery backup.

Conclusion
The new Moto E is an improvement over its predecessor, but competition has scaled to an even larger proportion. Motorola has kept the strengths of the original Mot E intact and has added some new features, which users had been asking for. We expect Moto E to be very well received in India.
