If you’re loyal to the Sony brand, you’d probably be pleased to hear about the Xperia M5 Dual that was launched for the Indian market today for 37,990 INR (the phone comes in Single/Dual SIM variants). Sporting a rear 21.5 Megapixel camera and a front-facing 13 Megapixel camera, and a fairly impressive spec sheet, the Xperia M5 offers an exciting combination for the shutterbugs out there!
The phone has a 5 inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS LCD display, scratch-resistant glass and supports multi-touch. Running on Android Lollipop 5.0, the Xperia M5 is equipped with an Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and a Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 chipset. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal storage which can be upgraded to 200 GB via microSD. Powering it is a non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery which Sony claims will give upto 2 days of battery life when running on its Stamina mode.
The highlight of the Xperia M5 is its photography capabilities and Sony has packed the phone with two impressive cameras; the Primary camera is a 21.5 MP Exmor RS camera with LED flash, Hybrid Autofocus (under 0.25 seconds), 5x Clear Image Zoom, HDR mode, Steady Shot and most importantly, 4K video recording which should make for some excellent pictures and videos. The front-facing camera is a 13 MP Exmor RS camera that also has HDR and Auto-focus capabilities and promises to capture those selfies in high-definition. Additionally, there are several apps like Creative effect, Timeshift, Style Portrait and even a cool Face In app that lets you overlay images from both the front and rear cameras that were captured simultaneously.
Sony has given the Xperia M5 its patented waterproof technology with the highest IP rating for a smartphone out there – IP65/68 as long as the open ports are covered! An IP rating or Ingress Protection is a standard that measures a device’s resistance levels to dust (IP65) and water (IP68 – both for splashes and submersion upto 1.5 metres and 30 minutes) ; so if you’re stuck in the rain or walking on the beach or close to the pool, you needn’t worry about your phone getting wet!
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS (with A-GPS, GLONASS), NFC, and microUSB v2.0
If you had 37,990 INR, would you consider buying the Sony Xperia M5?!
