Microsoft Back With A NOKIA Phone Again

Microsoft which had purchased Nokia in 2013 had huge plans to come up with smartphones in the Windows ecosystem. But it proved them to be a costly decision and eventually, rumors say that Microsoft is bringing the Lumia series to a halt. Instead it will be coming up with the Surface Phone series for its business users.

But this is not the matter of discussion here, it is about a feature phone unveiled by Microsoft under Nokia branding. This news comes amidst the news about Microsoft selling the feature phone business to an aide of Foxconn that is FIH mobile.

Nokia 216 is said to have a 2.4 inch QVGA display and has a 0.3 megapixel camera at the front and rear with flash and it is said to run on the series 30 OS and also comes preinstalled with the Opera mini browser. It comes with a micro USB port, 3.5 mm Jack, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 1020 mAh battery.

It’s a dual sim phone and Microsoft claims up to 18 hours of talk time and up to 19 days standby. This would be a modest specification for a feature phone.

Pricing and availability

The Nokia 216 is priced around Rs 2500, it comes with colourful polycarbonate shell and would be available from October 24th. Since India is one of the largest feature phone market we need to see how Microsoft’s new phone pays them.
