Whats New In The Sony Xperia XZ Camera?
While those specs seem quite common, Sony tries to show its expertise in the camera department, with a 23 MP camera featuring the IMX300 sensor custom made by Sony for its Xperia smartphones. The Xperia XZ is also the first phone to come with the new Triple Image Sensing technology and 5-axis stabilization, giving it an upper hand compared to other flagship phones in terms of imaging.
What’s Triple Image Sensing technology?
So, what exactly is this Triple Image Sensing technology that the Xperia XZ comes with? As the name suggests, it is simply a combination of three technologies:
Image Sensor
Sony’s original IMX300 Exmor RS for mobile image sensor which provides a powerful blend of high quality image and autofocus (AF) speed combined with Predictive Hybrid AF which intelligently predicts and track subjects in motion for blur-free results. In other words, Sony is leveraging its technological advancements in camera sensors for improving its smartphone cameras.
Laser Autofocus Sensor
Added to this is the Laser AF sensor with distance sensing technology, which captures beautiful blur-free photos in challenging low light conditions. Laser autofocus allows the sensor to capture well-focused images faster due to its own speed.
RGBC-IR Sensor
The RGBC-IR sensor with colour sensing technology accurately adjusts the white balance based on the light source in the environment, enabling you to enjoy superb true to life colours.
Sony claims that its 23 MP camera comes with fast start-up of 0.6 seconds. Advanced features have been added for those who want more flexibility with manual settings to further enhance the shooting experience and creative possibilities, such as shutter speed and focus controls.
More Manual settings for greater control
Apart from the above features, Sony has also included manual focus and shutter speed controls, giving you a range of options to create your photos the way you want them.
SteadyShot And 5-Axis Video Stabilization
For those users who are into video shooting on their phones, Sony has brought its SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode to help you record high quality videos.
Xperia XZ is the World’s first smartphone with 5-axis video stabilization enabling you to shoot smoother and stable video recording and playbacks. Camera shakes are compensated in 5 different directions even when walking or capturing extreme close-ups. This feature is applicable to both front and main camera.
