Physical Overview
As, the Coolpad Mega 3 is the successor of Mega 2.5D, a lot of similarity is evident from the design of the phone. Although the most charming option is the golden one, we had the white color handset and the plastic quality seems fine, as expected in the particular price segment. The screen is slightly curved and is accompanied with thick black bezels, creating a nice illusion of an edge-to-edge panel when the screen is off.
On the top you get a 3.5mm jack
The volume and power button are located on the either side and the plastic quality of these buttons is average but, gives fine experience.
The back cover is detachable but, battery cannot be removed. The key highlight is that you get three SIM slots with a dedicated microSD slot at the bottom.
Coolpad Mega 3 Display
This budget phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a 720 pixels by 1080 pixels resolution at a PPI of 269 pixels per inch. The daylight visibility is fine and when looked at different angles, the display does not get distorted much. At this price point, the display is not disappointing and screen to body ratio is approximately 73.5.
Camera Overview
Coolpad Mega 3 comes with 8 MP camera on both the sides but, the front camera has a fixed focus. We tested the camera in bright light and the picture quality was crisp and significant. However, the image quality in low lights is not that good. You will not get much details in the pictures but still the overall quality is appropriate for the price bracket in which this phone is placed. We took a bunch of images from both the cameras and found that the rear camera quality is slightly better than the front camera despite having the same megapixels.
Pricing And Availability
The phone is priced at Rs 6,999 and will be available through Amazon India in three color options which include Gold, Grey and White from December 7th.
Conclusion
The specifications of the phone are quite similar to the Mega 2.5D but, the option of 3 SIM slots and better connectivity are the factors which might give this phone an added advantage in the segment. Performance wise, the phone gave an average response and expecting something extraordinary from Mega 3 might lead to disappointment.
