Xiaomi took everyone by surprise by launching the Mi Mix last year with a near-bezelless design. This year again, the Chinese giant is promising to launch a successor named Mi Mix 2. Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun teased on Chinese social network Weibo. According to Lei Jun, the Mi Mix 2 will come with an even higher screen to body ratio, greater than the Mi Mix which had a ratio of 91.3%.
Coming to the Mi Mix 2, reports suggest that the second phone in the Mix series will come without a physical button on the front. Xiaomi is reported to be working on a different, new design for the Mi Mix 2, further increasing the screen to body ratio compared to the Mi Mix.
The original Mi Mix came with a 6.4 inch edgeless display, with a 2040 x 1080 pixels screen resolution resulting in a pixel density of 362 PPI. The phone is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and comes with 4 or 6 GB RAM.

On the front, the Mi Mix featured an edgeless design, created by the company in collaboration with French designer Philippe Starck. Lei Jun, the company’s CEO, confirmed that Starck will once again be working with the company on the Mi Mix 2.
Another highlight of the original Mi Mix was the lack of an earpiece. Xiaomi used a cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology, which transmits sound without the need for a receiver. The phone also came with an Ultrasonic distance sensor to make up for the lack of a regular proximity sensor.
