According to recent data published on Trai’s website on Monday, the average download 4G speed on Reliance Jio network was recorded highest. The average speed recorded was 16.48 mbps, taking a lead over Bharti Airtel. Airtel, which was termed as the fastest 4G network for 2016 by US-based Ookla’s Speedtest has been ranked third for the month of February.
Though Reliance Jio has been ranked first by TRAI, its average download speed has gone down from 17.42 mbps in January. Idea has been tagged at second position with an average download speed of 12.09 mbps download speed. Whereas, Vodafone’s average download speed was recorded 7.933 mbps which went down from 8.3 mbps in January.

After a complaint lodged by Reliance Jio, the advertising watchdog asked Airtel to put down the advertisement which states that Airtel has the highest 4G speed or modify it. In return, Sunil Bharti Mittal, will appeal against the order as the company has been certified with fastest network operator in India. But, Jio told ASCI that this advertisement is misleading and done in “malafide manner in collusion with” Ookla.

Not only this, Reliance Jio has also sent a legal notice to Ookla for “falsely” certifying Bharti Airtel, despite knowledge that its test results are fundamentally flawed and unreliable. Contrary to this, data available on OpenSignal’s website also showcased that Airtel is the fastest telecom operator in India in terms of 4G LTE speeds. According to OpenSignal’s data, Airtel has leading speed in cities – Ranchi, Shillong, Kolkata, Dehradun, Jaipur, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Indore, Goa, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad.
