Uber is soon going to launch it’s new food delivery service, “UberEats” in India. Uber already announced about launching UberEats in India and has now has shared invite for the launch event of the UberEats which is set for May 2.

UberEats is a basically a food delivery service that will offer food delivery from various restaurants. It was launched as a delivery pilot in Los Angeles long back in 2014 and since then it has expanded to 58 cities. The invite says, ”Psst! Something is cooking! Get ready for a lip smacking time”.

In the past few months, India has seen a significant growth in online food industry. Hence this is the perfect move from Uber to grab the opportunity of growing it’s services in India. Uber is also currently looking to set up a network of restaurants, restaurant partners and delivery partners in India before the official launch of its service. UberEATS is inviting restaurants and delivery companies to show their interest in becoming partners.

Interestingly Uber has also a standalone app for this service. It’s not like the one integrated into the core app which kind of good and bad as well. This service is powered by the same technology that makes its transport mobile app efficient and cost-effective, getting great food delivered to you is now as easy as requesting a ride. The restaurant food delivery service will be competing with the already existing services likes of Foodpanda, Zomato, etc.

As of now cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai may get this service initially. Although it’s pretty much expected that they will be expanding their services to other cities in future as well. Uber also provides this service in Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Taipei.
