Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be available in Indian market from mid-August, Nokia today confirmed in a statement. Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 are priced at Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 12,899, respectively. Both the phones run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and feature a Snapdragon 430 chipset.
HMD Global, the Finnish company, which makes smartphones under the Nokia brand name, launched its first range of Android smartphones in India last month – Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Nokia 3 is already available offline and online in India at Rs. 9,499. Now, the company also cleared the details about the availability Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.
“We are humbled by the response to Nokia 3. Currently, we are ramping up our production for Nokia 3 on priority to meet the existing consumer demand. In the coming weeks, we will start production of Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 to get them ready for sales start by mid-August,” a HMD spokesperson said.
The company had already announced the pre-bookings for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 from July 7 and July 14 respectively. While the Nokia 6 pre-bookings will be on Amazon India, the Nokia 5 pre-bookings are announced for select mobile retail outlets across some cities. The cities include Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Ahmedabad, and Kozhikode.
HMD Global is said to be having a network of over 400 distributors to support its new range of Nokia Android smartphones. This network will help the new Nokia devices to be made available at more than 80,000 retail outlets across the India.
Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Key Features
Both the devices feature almost similar specifications and are different only in terms of display size, memory, and rear camera.
Nokia 5 has 5.2-inch IPS LCD display. While Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass. Nokia 5 has 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage. While Nokia 6 has a 3GB RAM and houses 32 GB internal memory. The internal storage in both the phones is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card.
Nokia 5 has a 13MP rear camera, which is equipped with PDAF and dual-tone flash. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, sports a 16MP rear camera. The 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture is given for Selfie Lovers in both the Nokia 5 and 6.
If we talk about common features, both the devices are powered by Snapdragon 430 processor. The smartphones run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and come with a 3000 mAh battery. Also, the home button of both the devices is a fingerprint sensor. Both the phones come in Arte Black, Matte Black, Tempered Blue, Silver, and Copper color options.
