Now you can carry your Aadhaar card details on your smartphone. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the mAadhaar app for Android users. The mobile app allows users to carry their Aadhaar demographic information, i.e. name, date of birth, gender, address and the photograph linked with their Aadhaar number, on their smartphones.
In order to use the mAadhaar app, the users need to have their mobile numbers registered with their Aadhaar. In case your mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar, you can visit the nearest Enrolment Centre/Mobile Update End Point.
The mAadhaar app has been launched only for Android users as of now but might be released for iOS soon as well. The app is currently available for download on Google Play announced UIDAI in its tweet.
Key Features of mAadhaar App
Convenience of Carrying Aadhaar – The app is the most convenient way to carry Aadhaar number. Android phone users have this advantage of carrying Aadhar number with demographic details anytime, anywhere.
Biometric locking & unlocking – Users can secure biometric authentication by locking their biometrics data. Once a user enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till he chooses to either Unlock it which is temporary or Disable the Locking system.
TOTP generation – The mAadhaar app comes with Time-based One Time Password. It is an automatically generated temporary password which can be used instead of SMS based OTP.
Update profile – You can also see an updated view of your Aadhaar profile data after successful completion of update request.
Sharing of QR code and eKYC data– Now Aadhaar Number holders can also share QR code and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information from the app instead of manual entry.
However, the app is currently in beta version. Some of the features will be made available after future updates. To recall, a new amendment to the tax payers in the Finance Bill for 2017-18 made it mandatory from July 1 for anyone who has a PAN card to link it with their Aadhaar number.
You can download the Android mAadhaar app from the Google Play Store for free.
