Moto G5S, G5S Plus Launched With Metal Unibody Design And Improved Cameras

Motorola has finally announced the Moto G5S and G5S Plus after several rumours. The new phones are the successors of the previously launched Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus respectively. Both the new devices have improved cameras, bigger displays, and better designs.

Motorola has come up with significant upgrades with these phones. After the several leaks earlier, the phones are finally unveiled and will be made available from this month in various countries across the globe.

Both the phones are available in two color options, Lunar Grey and Fine Gold/Blush Gold.  If we talk about the pricing of phones, G5S will be available at a 249 Euros, while the G5S Plus comes with a price tag of 299 Euros.

This is the successor of the Moto G5, that was launched earlier this year at MWC 17. The new phone features a metal unibody design and a fingerprint scanner on the front. It now comes with gesture recognition support on the fingerprint scanner.

Moto G5S features a slightly bigger display than its previous model. It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It also comes with water repellent nano-coating.

Powering the phone is a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. The phone packs 3GB RAM. On the storage front, it houses 32GB internal memory which is expandable up to 128 GB with microSD.

If talk about the camera, it has got a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. The improved rear camera also features PDAF and 1080p video recording. On the front, it sports 5MP camera, f/2.0 aperture and with LED flash.

The dual SIM phone runs Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box. Moto G5S has a bigger 3,000mAh non-removable battery with Turbo charging support.

On the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, and NFC.

Moto G5S Plus is the upgraded version of previously launched Moto G5 Plus. The metal unibody phone comes with a bigger 5.5-inch display. The Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The Moto G5S Plus also gets a new Night Display and Quick Reply, the new Moto Experiences. The phone runs Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box.

It is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform clocked at 2GHz and coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone comes in two storage variants same as its predecessor, but the RAM is 3GB for the 32GB version and another is the same 4GB/64GB.

One of the highlights of the phone is its dual camera setup at the rear. The phone sports 13MP dual camera setup with f/2.0 aperture which includes one monochrome and one RGB sensor. The cameras feature dual-tone LED flash and support 4K video recording. For the selfie lovers, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and flash.

The phone sports front mounted fingerprint sensor which now supports a gesture recognition feature. The G5S plus also houses 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging. It also features water repellent coating.

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and NFC.

The Moto G5S comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colors options. The pricing starts at $294 or 249 Euros that translates roughly to Rs. 18,850. While the Moto G5S Plus comes in Blush Gold and Lunar Gray colors. Its pricing starts at $353 or 299 Euros (Rs. 22,650 approx.). These phones will be available in several countries from this month and the US users will have to wait till this fall.

It is not yet clear when the Lenovo-owned company will release the Moto G5S and G5S Plus in India. Meantime, Lenovo has announced that the K8 Note will be launching in India on August 9.
