Samsung all set to launch a new Gear smartwatch next week

Samsung is going to launch a new smartwatch at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin next week. The smartwatch is likely to be called Gear S4 and it will the successor to last year’s Gear S3.

As per the report published in CNBC, DJ Koh, Samsung's Mobile Division Head, has confirmed that the company will be launching the new wearable at IFA 2017. To recall, Samsung launched Gear S3 smartwatch in two variants – Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 frontier at IFA 2016.

The complete specifications of upcoming Gear smartwatch are not available yet. However, a lot can be speculated about the Samsung Gear smartwatch by looking at its predecessor. For example, it will surely feature GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity just like the Gear S3. There are also chances that it might come with company's voice assistant – Bixby, which is now available globally.

Moreover, the upcoming Gear S smartwatch is expected to come with updates like a faster processor and improved battery life. Also, the smartwatch is said to see major design changes when compared to the last year's Gear S3.

It has also been tipped that the upcoming smartwatch will be the first wearable device to be powered by Tizen 3.0 operating system. The CNBC report further suggests that the smartwatch will likely to come with health-tracking features as well.

If we can put in place properly a smartwatch that can monitor everything for your health and provide the information, then the market will grow,” said Koh as quoted by CNBC.

Samsung has been paying a lot of attention to its wearable products aimed at health care. Earlier, it had launched two versions of the Gear S3 smartwatch, and currently, the company sells a fitness band called Gear Fit. Samsung also has an app called Samsung Health that monitors signs such as heart rate and stress level through sensors on its products.
