Acer has announced Swift 5, Spin 5 and Switch 7 Black Edition Windows 10 notebooks at IFA 2017 in Berlin. The ultra-slim devices are convertible, detachable and are powered by Intel’s 8th generation core processors.

The newest devices from Acer are not only more powerful with Intel’s latest processor, but they also are lightweight and feature slimline designs that make them convenient. The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is priced at $1,699 while the Acer Swift 5 and Acer Spin 5 are priced at $999 and $799 respectively.

Acer Switch 7 Black Edition Specifications

Acer Switch 7 Black Edition features a brushed-aluminum body and it weighs less than 1.15 kg and comes with a detachable keyboard. It comes with the AutoStand feature from Acer that enables single-handed operation of the laptop, allowing you to open it and adjust the display on a clamshell notebook. This AutoStand can be auto-deployed and auto-retracted.


The notebook sports a 13.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2256 x 1504 pixels. It comes with an embedded battery-free stylus pen that features 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Acer Swift 7 Black Edition also supports Windows Hello and features an optical-based under-glass fingerprint sensor that allows users to instantly login with just one touch.

Moreover, the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is a fanless 2-in-1 notebook with the company’s Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology. It is powered by Intel’s 8th generation Core i7 processor paired with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 featuring discrete graphics.

Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available for sale in North America and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) from coming December. It is priced at $1,699 in North America and €1,999 in EMEA respectively.

Acer Swift 5 Specifications

Acer Swift 5 is a thin and lightweight notebook. It’s top and bottom covers have been made using a combination of magnesium-lithium alloys and magnesium-aluminum alloys have been used on the palm rest area. The device weighs less than 1kg.


Coming to the specifications, the Swift 5 is powered by Intel’s 8th-generation Core processor and runs Windows 10. It is said to offer up to eight hours of battery life. Other specs include 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 256GB solid-state drive (SSD), Windows Hello support via fingerprint scanner, 2×2 802.11ac wireless, and a backlit keyboard.

The Acer Swift 5 features a multi touch 14 inch full HD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS touchscreen display with narrow bezels. It features Acer’s TrueHarmony with Dolby Audio Premium technology which enables clear audio. It also comes with Skype for Business certification.

The Acer Swift 5 will be available for sale in North America from December, priced at $999. Alongside, it will go on sale in EMEA from December priced at €1,099. In China, it will be available from November starting at 7,499 Yuan.

Acer Spin 5 Specifications

The Acer Spin 5 is a convertible device that can be interchanged between laptop, tablet, display and tent modes. It comes in two sizes- 13-inch and 15-inch with full HD resolution. The 13-inch model measures at 15.9 mm in thickness and weighs in at 1.5 kg, while the 15-inch model weighs over 2 kgs and measures 17.9 mm in thickness.


The Windows 10 notebook is backed by Intel’s 8th generation core processors coupled with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM. The 15-inch model comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics as well. The device is said to offer up to 13 hours of battery life.

It comes with an optional Active Stylus Pen. Also, it features company’s TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio Premium technology to offer better audio with two front-facing speakers. It packs four array microphones with far-field voice-recognition technology that allow users to access Cortana Voice Assistant from up to four meters away.

The Acer Spin 5 will be available for sale in North America and EMEA starting this September. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models start at $799 in the US. While in EMEA, the 13-inch model will be available at €899 and the 15-inch model at €999.
