The phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the latest version of Grace UX on top. Samsung has added some new S-Pen features and improved upon the existing ones with the latest version of its custom skin.

In terms of design, the smartphone does not stray far from the this year’s S8. It also comes with IP68 certification which technically makes it dust and water resistant.

The camera duties are handled by a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens in a dual camera setup with Optical Image Stabilization on both the units. The wide angle lens comes with aperture f/1.7, 1.4-micron pixel size, 77-degree field of view. The telephoto lens is backed with f/2.4, 2x optical zoom up to 10x digital zoom. This is the first time that Samsung has come up with a dual camera setup in a flagship, a setup which is quite similar to the LG’s G-Series. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with autofocus, f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, NFC, MST and hybrid dual-SIM. In terms of security, the Note 8 comes with Iris Scanner, Facial Recognition and Fingerprint Sensor located at the backside.

Pricing and Availability

Samsung has priced the Galaxy Note 8 at Rs. 67,900. It will be available in Midnight Black and Maple Gold color options. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available on Amazon India, Samsung online store and authorized retailers starting from September 21. The device is currently available for pre-booking.

Additional offers include a Rs. 4,000 cash back on using HDFC Credit cards. Samsung has also entered into a partnership with Reliance Jio, so Jio users on the Galaxy Note 8 will get double data offer. Apart from this, those who pre-order the device will get a one-time screen replacement and a free wireless charger.

The Galaxy Note 8 is undeniably big, and most users may not prefer a phone hard to operate and manage, which include styluses. It does come with plenty of good features – anyone who was disappointed with the Note 7 will likely appreciate these improvements. Let’s see how it takes on the upcoming iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X from Apple.
