In order to compete with Reliance Jio, the telecom players Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel have rolled out new tariff plan in the country today. Both the companies unveiled an FRC 495 plan for the new users. Under this plan, operators offer unlimited voice call and 1GB data/day for a period of 84 days.
Moreover, Reliance Jio is currently charging Rs. 498 for the new users. The Rs. 498 plan is divided into Rs. 99 for Jio Prime subscription and Rs. 399 for the tariff plan. The Voice calls in Airtel and Idea are limited to 300 minutes/day and 1200 minutes/week. While in Jio, there is no limit for voice calls.
The lucrative tariff plans from Jio has forced the rival telecom operators to cut their prices. According to the latest stats, the average price of wireless data in India has fallen to Rs. 6/GB from Rs. 200/GB, which is a decrease of 97%. Moreover, Vodafone is also offering cheaper plans, including a Rs. 250 plan in which the user gets 1 GB/day for 70 days along with free calls.
The Rs. 495 plan from Airtel and Idea offers 1GB 4G data per day, unlimited local and STD voice calls and free 99 SMSs per day with a validity of 84 days. However, it must be noted that this plan is valid only for users with 4G handsets. If you have a 3G or 2G handset, you will only get 1GB 3G / 2G data and a validity of 28 days.
Reliance Jio is currently offering 1GB 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls and free SMSs with a validity of 84 days at just Rs. 399. However, new customers will also have to subscribe to Jio Prime which costs an additional Rs. 99.
