Korean smartphone giant Samsung has introduced a new device to their luxurious W range of flip phones, the Samsung W2018. This is the latest luxurious flip-phone from Samsung, and it has the widest lens aperture in a smartphone camera.
Launched at an event in China, the Samsung W2018 is a flip phone that runs Android with two displays. The phone comes with f/1.5 aperture in the rear camera and is backed by a Snapdragon 835 processor. The W2018 is the tenth-anniversary edition to the W lineup.
Samsung W2018 Specifications
For the uninitiated, the W lineup by Samsung is a range of flip or clamshell smartphones. These are popular in Asia and are priced even higher than the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series. The phone features two displays, one outside the device and the other one shows when you flip it open.
The Samsung W2018 comes with two 4.2-inch displays. The outer one is a Full HD Super AMOLED panel, protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and the inner display supports HD resolution. The phone’s back panel is Gorilla Glass and sports a zinc alloy biaxial hinge.
Coming to optics, the Samsung W2018 is equipped with a 12MP rear camera which has an industry-first f/1.5 aperture with OIS for stable low-light imaging. A 5MP front-facing camera is also there for selfies and videos calling.
In terms of performance, the Samsung W2018 is a luxurious flagship. The phone boasts a Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. There are two storage variants available i.e. Extreme Edition with 64GB internal storage and Collector Edition which has 256GB internal storage. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Samsung Experience UI.
Backed by a 2,300 mAh battery, the phone features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as Bixby Button. Standard connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C. Samsung is also providing concierge services at Airports and subways for the phone. These include free technical support, low-cost screen replacement, and hotlines for VIPs.
