Xiaomi has been rolling out its latest MIUI 9 update to the compatible devices in different batches. Few of the Xiaomi Phones in the first two batches have got the latest build of MIUI. Now, the company has started rolling out the new MIUI 9 on Mi Max and Mi Max Prime as a Nightly build for select users.
To recall, Xiaomi had launched its phablet Mi Max and Mi Max Prime phablets last year running MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Recently, a few months back the phablet started getting Android Nougat update and now the company is releasing a Nightly Build of MIUI 9 for these devices. Nightly build is only for testing purposes and the stable build will be released only after it runs successfully.
At the time of the announcement of Global MIUI 9 rollout, earlier last month Xiaomi released the list of MIUI 9 compatible devices. As per the list, the Xiaomi Mi Max and Mi Max Prime were kept in the third batch of devices along with Redmi 4. It is to be noted that budget phone Redmi 4 has already got the MIUI 9 update recently. The third batch also includes Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite, however, theirs update was suspended due to some bugs.
MIUI 9 on Xiaomi Mi Max
The new update for Mi Max and Mi Max Prime comes as MIUI 9.1.1.0.NBCMIEI and is 639 MB in size for both the phones. It is again to be noted that this is a Nightly build which Xiaomi releases to random users to get feedback. Later, the same update is rolled out to all users as a Stable build if feedback goes well.
This MIUI 9 update will bring major changes to the last year’s phablet. If we talk about the notable features of the update, there are features like a quick switch, screen recorder, new system animation and a lot more. Xiaomi emphasizes on four major features of MIUI 9 including notifications shades, split screen, icon animation and smart photo editing tool.
The stale MIUI 9 update is expected to be rolled out to all the users later this month if there no critical bugs are found. Xiaomi is asking for feedback from the users who have received the Nightly build update. So, if you have got the update on your device you can submit your feedback on the Mi forum.
