HMD Global is hosting an event in China on January 19 to launch the Nokia 9 as per some recent reports. Additionally, the company is also said to launch the 2018 version of its recent flagship Nokia 8 at the same event. The launch event in China means initially both the phones, Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 (2018) will be available in China, and may come to India later.
Chinese publication MyDrivers reported that HMD Global may launch the Nokia 9 and the next-generation Nokia 8 with a customized experience for the Chinese market. This hints that the smartphones may not have Google services and might come with some Chinese counterparts. Also, HMD is likely to offer a custom ROM on both the phones.
Nokia 9 Price
Addition to launch announcement, MyDrivers report has also leaked a screenshot that provides detail about the price of the Nokia 9. The leaked screenshot shows that the Nokia 9 will come two storage variants with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage for CNY 3,699 (Rs. 36,000 approx.), and its other version with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be priced CNY 4,199 (roughly Rs. 40,900).
Nokia 9, Nokia 8 (2018) Specifications
If earlier rumors to be believed, the Nokia 9 will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display. The protective case of Nokia 9 was spotted on Amazon UK pointed at a curved-glass display, a back-facing fingerprint scanner, and a dual-camera setup. Further, the smartphone is expected to have USB Type-C port and is likely to run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
Now coming to Nokia 8 (2018), there is no information available about the device as of now, however, it is believed to packs the similar specs to Nokia 8. So, the phone is likely to come with a Snapdragon 835 SoC and the latest Android Oreo experience as the company has rolled out Oreo Update on Nokia 8. To recall, HMD Global launched the Nokia 8 in India back in September and at a price tag of Rs 36,999. So, Nokia 8 2018 edition may also be somewhat at the similar price point.
