Huawei Nova 2s with four cameras, full-screen display announced: price, specs, more

Huawei has announced its latest smartphone, dubbed as Nova 2S in China. The phone is the latest addition to the company’s Nova series and packs high-end specifications. Notably, the phone has four cameras, two at the front and two at the back. Moreover, the phone features a full-screen display. The Nova 2S price starts at 2,699 yuan (Rs. 26,350 approx.).

Earlier, Huawei had launched a mid-range phone Nova 2i with similar features like full-screen display and four cameras. However, the latest Nova 2S is the high-end phone with powerful octa-core processor with AI functions via a dedicated chip. Moreover, it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 skinned on top.

The Huawei Nova 2S following the full-screen display trend sports a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The Hybrid dual SIM phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with company’s EMUI 8.0 skinned on top.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Huawei Kirin 960 + an i6 co-processor for AI capabilities and a Mali G71 Octa-core GPU for handling graphics. Memory and storage wise, it comes in two options, 6GB RAM with 64GB/128GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with the microSD card.


In the camera department, the phone features a dual camera setup on the back. There is a 16MP primary RGB sensor and a secondary 20MP monochrome sensor. The dual cameras feature f/1.8 aperture, LED flash, PDAF, and 4K video recording. Up front, there is another dual camera with a 20MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 2MP camera. The front camera also sports LED flash and has support for face recognition. Both the cameras have portrait mode to offer the depth of field.

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. The phone packs a 3,340mAh battery. Other features include a fingerprint sensor and Hi-Fi audio chip.

Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Nova 2S is priced at 2,699 yuan (Rs. 26,350 approx.) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version. The 6GB RAM/64GB storage version costs 2,999 yuan (Rs. 29,265 approx.) and the specially customized 6GB RAM/128GB storage version is priced at 3,399 yuan (Rs. 33,165 approx.). The phone comes in Black, Grey, Red, Rose Gold and Blue color options. The phone is currently available in China and there is no word as of now on its India availability.
