Idea updates Rs. 198 plan, offers 1GB per day, unlimited voice calls, SMS

Idea Cellular is now trying to catch up with the rival incumbents in terms of tariff pricing. The company has revised the Rs. 198 plan to compete with the plans of other operators in the country. The company introduced the plan last week and now has revised it to make it on par with the competition.

With the revised plan, you will get better voice calling and roaming benefits. The plan offers data as well but puts a cap over free calls. Incumbents like Airtel have lifted the cap of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week from free voice calls. This has been done to give stiff competition to Reliance Jio.

Idea Cellular Rs. 198 Tariff plan

The Idea Rs. 198 prepaid tariff plan is at par with the Airtel Rs. 199 plan and the similar offering from Vodafone. The plan offers unlimited local, STD, as well as roaming calls with a cap of 250 minutes per day or 1000 minutes per week. Benefits have been extended after the revision of this plan.

Apart from calls, the plan is offering 1GB data and 100 free SMS per day. While the competition is offering 4G data, Idea is banking on 3G internet speed for this plan. Also, you can get 1GB extra data for 28 days if you recharge via My Idea app or Idea website.

The Idea Rs. 198 prepaid tariff is valid for 28 days. The validity also goes on par with the Airtel plan of Rs. 198. Airtel is offering unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls along with 1GB data and 100 free SMS per day. However, with the Idea Cellular plan, you get 1GB extra data if your recharge using the app or website.

Incumbents catching up

With Idea offering bonus 1GB data for in-app recharge, the incumbents are catching up to the Jio apps suite with their own mobile apps. With the Idea Rs. 198 plan, the telco seems to be offering equal benefits as the competitors.
